I bought the shoe because it was maintenance free and it is. The dot matrix cushion is comfortable and it fits well.

I have always worn the Florsheim Lexington, but the rubber traction pad on the bottom would wear quickly and start to come away from the wood, flapping around as I walked. The Eaton solves this with full rubber on the bottom, but the look and feel is otherwise the same as the Lexington. It is not bulky and cheap-looking like other maintenance free and weatherproof shoes I have tried. Very comfortable to wear the first day, and has that professional look I need.

The 'carefree' leather is so far true to it's word. I have worn them in snow rain and the shoe looks about as good as out of the box.

We just bought a second pair of these shoes for my husband. He wore the others almost every day and finally wore out the inside of the soles. The outer soles and the leather are still in great shape. They look great with a suit or with something snappily casual. His foot is a little hard to fit (slightly narrow heel, high instep) and these never had to be broken-in.
