I bought it because I need to wear orthopedic inserts as a result of some foot problems. I wanted something to wear with shorts, and sandals were out of the question. One problem I have always had with deck shoes is that the thiness of the soles does not provide much cushioning. As a result, you do not want to walk long distances in these shoes. For short distances these are fine. I am more sensitive than most in this regard, so you may be fine with these.
Wears this shoe: I wear them in the summer with shorts.

I have trouble finding shoes wide enough. Got these in 6E and they were comfortable right out of the box. Slightly "dressier" deck shoe. Very pleased.
