Vintage Docs make the difference

My first Docs were 4 eye red docs that I bought in Colombia and I wore them for 7 years. The soles were so comfortable and the leather gave to my feet quickly. I don't remember them being anything but comfortable. I felt like I had a spring in my step when I had those red docs on. Fast forward to 14 years later and I finally decide to get some new Docs after 7 years of not wearing those vinatage ones, so I had to get a "made in England pair".The shipping was fast, thank you Shoebuy!! The soles are very comfortable after 2 weeks of breaking them in. I have a wider foot than average so I needed to break in the leather. Now I can walk in them for 8 hours and it's just as good as my first pair. I got black, they look great.Perhaps, to shorten the breakin period, I could have tried shoe trees. What worked for me was to remove the shoes after about 4 hours the first two weeks.These shoes will get comfortable. I really wanted the British community to benefit from my purchase. I have purchased a newer style of docs that were slip ons and made in China. They never softened up.Vintage docs are some of the best shoes you'll ever wear.

I was really happy when I discovered that they finally got with the program and started making their classic 1461 Gibson in the UK again. I've looked at the Chinese made Doc's a number of times the past few years but was utterly unimpressed. This is a great shoe, great leather quality, solid construction. Equally as good as the many pairs I've had in the past. It is totally worth spending the extra $$$. You won't be disappointed if a classic pair of Doc's is on your shopping list!

These are great shoes, just like the ones I wore in the 80's. Maybe its just that my feet are 20 years older now but they don't have the cushion I remember. I am using inserts from old sneakers, they feel great now.
