Vintage Docs worth the money.

I've been wearing Docs for many years now and while I didn't really have a problem with the Chinese made models, now that I have the made in England models, I'll never go back. They took about 2 weeks to break in and that's wearing them every day for about 8 hours a day. I am very pleased with the craftsmanship of these boots and they feel great. Definitely worth the extra expense.

It took me a while to finally find some original, made in England Docs. I have two other pairs that are about 15 years old and was very disappointed to find they are made in China now. I tried the ones made in China and they are flimsy. I'm happy to have gotten a great shoe at a respectable price.

I have always liked Dr. Martens shoes, but I have never owned a real pair. When I started researching them, I found that the "Made in China" 1460's were not up to snuff to the originals. I did a little more research, and I found that you could buy "vintage" Dr. Martens. I purchased these with high hopes. When I got my first pair (I am a 10 1/2 in sneakers) I had bought UK 9, and they were much too big. I used Shoebuy's free return and got a UK 8. The UK 8 is tight, but is breaking in nicely. The only problem I have now is my little toe feels crowded. They are softening up nicely with the help of Dr. Martens wonder balsam. I love the way they look with jeans and they are really comfortable. I don't understand how, because the inner sole is hard, but when you walk they are soft. I highly recommend these.

Like old times!

I got my first pair of docs in 1987. I pretty much lived in them for the next decade. Actually the docs, a pair of bastaad clogs some Kenneth Cole gum soled booties and a few pair of espadrilles.... The docs were my favorite shoes, and when they finally gave up the ghost I cried a little. I considered getting a new pair, but they seemed a poorer quality and never lived up to my expectations. Then recently I saw that DM had issued a vintage model, true to the original specs. I decided to try a pair. I am so glad I did. They are just like I remembered them. My new favorite shoe has arrived! I have customized them by adding a sheepskin insole which will mold to my foot after a month or so. I did this on my old docs too. It makes them feel sort of tailor made, and prolongs the life of the shoe.

I ordered both a pair of these and a pair of the Chinese made boots. They're so different they shouldn't even be called the same style. These are definitely worth the extra money. Great boots.
