Great Boot for Kicking Around December 04, 2012

I wanted a kicking around boot for walking through fields and goofing around. But I wanted one that was tough enough to ride a motorcycle as well. This is a great boot for both of these. I wear a ladies size 6 - US, so this 4 UK was a perfect fit.

I was in dire need of new work boots. I had never tried a pair of Dr. Martens, but I had heard a lot of good things about them. They are the most comfortable pair of boots I have ever worn. Time will tell if they hold up but I am extremely satisfied so far.

This review is written by a person recovering from a foot injury that required being non weight bearing for many months. Followed by stress fractures shortly after given the "Okay" to start walking. Eight months up until now. I wear a women's US 7, ordered UK 5. They were a little big on good foot but perfect on injured, which accommodated for the swelling. Able to adjust the fit with the laces. Not sure a UK 4 would fit in length. These boots have been a game changer. They arrived two days before a ten day cruise/vacation with multiple land excursions - all on crutches. Comfort from the beginning. Not one blister on a foot having to carry most of the load. Crutches slipped on rain soaked surfaces but the boots stayed put. The insole added comfort and the oiled leather is great for the scuffs. Just rub and they disappear. The style must be off the charts. For I was the talk of the ship after sporting them at ALL the formal events! As a fifty year old women, I did not think DR. Marten boots would become part of my fashion wardrobe. But after trying many types and brands of shoes and wearing nothing but my D.M's for three weeks...I believe I am a lifer. When I am able to wear other shoes, I will find reasons to wear these boots. The quality and comfort sold me! The only negative for me was that I needed a completely flat sole for my problem. I had tried on a steel toe version in a local safety shoe store. They had a flat sole. These NST boots have a slight curve-up at the toe.
Wears this shoe: I wear them all the time.

The boots are fine except for the metal shoe string pieces that are not eyelets. I have owned over the years 6 pairs of these boots. Each one had these dimbulb type string holders. You cannot pull the shoe laces tight without fighting these things. They make lacing the strings hard to do. I finally quit lacing across them and now the I can quickly lace and tighten the strings. Style over substance once again.
