I got these docs to replace the exact same kind that were a gift from a larger-footed friend who nabbed them in a thrift store coup. Now bear in mind that by replace, I mean augment.That 1991 thrift store pair are just now reaching their zenith.Enough about that, I am prepared to say that judging by the one new pair I have, that Dr. M has actually improved their shoe overall.I recall an even older pair of twelve eyes, purchased new, were a bear to break in. Also the two or three-odd pair that I have begged, borrowed or ......no not stolen, were always a touch off kilter or maybe stitched up a little sloppily, if you catch my meaning. The one gripe I have re: the new pair, Where are the old tags which read simply, Dr. Martens rather than air-wair?!? I have come to believe that a five- star anything,is mythological.Therefore these get four!! They are breaking in beautifully and are handsome and symmetrical! cheers!

This is the standard England-made 8-hole Doc. I'm still wearing my black ones i bought many years ago and I just got these blue ones because they were so cheap on clearance. If you haven't owned any before, you may have read that Docs are not comfortable until broken in. The ones I got actually weren't that bad. I can wear them with basic socks, and feel no pain and after break in they will be even better. On one, the tongue wasn't perfectly aligned where stitched to the rest of the shoe, but not bad enough for me to return.

I love these boots! They are comfortable enough to wear everyday! I did however have a bit of discomfort around the ankle for the first couple hours but after they soften a little they were great.
