Sets the standard. Boot is very comfortable and rugged. I like the waterproof configuration even though I was concerned about not having vent holes since the Desert Rat Hot version was not available at the time, but it is already 105 F outside and my feet are comfortable in the desert climate. I change socks everyday and use foot powder. Overall, I am very happy with my USMC Rat boots.

I originaly bought these boots for all around suburban walking and use. With occassional yardwork etc. I ended up taking a 7 day a week job at a nursery (plants and trees, not babies). My job puts these boots through some of the toughest outdoor conditions short of front line combat and they have to hold up every day. In rain, mud, concrete, climbing, working on slick rainy surfaces on flatbeds and more. These boots are waterproof, and due to the high 6 inch tops, my ankles are protected from thorns, brambles and deep water. The waterproofing goes almost to the top, so unless I stood in calf high water, my feet stay dry.Would I reccomend these to someone, without question...my friend has a pair of knock off shoes and he has gone through two pairs over the last two months. He doesn't want to spend a hundred plus on footwear...but so far at this rate he's going to need four more pairs to make it through the season...and mine are going strong.

Like the stiffness of the sole...especially like the little plastic heel insert.

Danner Rebel Rock 5.5" Good overall boot...

I bought the Rebel Rock for plain clothes work because I wanted something sturdy, that I could also run in if need be. I have to say these boots almost feel like you're wearing a pair of tennis shoes. They are comfortable right out of the box. I have narrow feet, and these D width shoes cinch down pretty well to feel snug. A negative I found was they were not that great when I wore them out hog hunting. The soles didn't seem to have that great of traction when climbing or side hilling, and the boot started to give me hot spots on the ball of my foot. However, I did not get any blisters. Overall I rate these as a good all around boot for multiple uses.
