Its not that large! This pack is well made, and has a nice tan to the leather. It does have lots of pockets, for sorting various items, but X-large is an understatement. You coulld put a laptop and a couple of textbooks in it, and cell phone, ipod, pda, etc, in the side pockets. It is about the same size as daypack. I would use for an overnight, but not a weekend trip or a trek thru the Himalayas. It is nicely made and a good value for the money.

I really like this bag, however it is so big that it becomes a nuisance when I need to open the large compartment. If I am not in a location where I can set it down, I have to prop the bag up on my upper thighs just to get the large compartment open. This is a nuisance at times.

Lots of space, enough to hold clothes for a couple day trip, or small enough to use just as a carry-around. Good looking, sturdy, lots of zippered pockets. Very happy with this item.
