Product Description (Men's Caterpillar Alaska FX Steel Toe Waterproof)
This handsome boot consists of waterproof tumbled oiled full grain leather with mesh lining that uses Sympatex® liners, an advance waterproof material that keeps the foot dry while efficiently wicking moisture.
The boot also sports a removable PU sock liner insole and rubber midsole. The outsole is constructed with T15 rubber and Goodyear welt.
This ANSI class 75 steel toe boot features slip resistant soles to reduce the risk of slips and falls as well Techniflex technology which allows the boot to bend and flex in key areas of the foot.
The steel toe version is also rated ANSI Z41 PT99 I/75 C/75 EH with special construction to protect the wearer against open circuits up to 600 volts in dry conditions.

As a restaurant service tech I work in a very harsh environment. I deal daily with wet and greasy floors, harsh chemicals like salt, acid and alkaline cleaners, abrasives, etc. I also spend a lot of time on my knees which puts a lot of wear on the toes. These shoes last about 3-4 years on average and remain waterproof with a minimum of care. The soles are non-marking and provide reasonable traction on slick tile floors. Soles are electrically resistant.The shoes are heavy though, about 2.2 lbs each, which is not too unusual for a steel toe and shank. May take some getting used to. Very comfortable. I spend all day on my feet.

I've been looking for a good all-around, everyday comfortable boot that a guy can wear and use for work, hiking, and hunting; well, like I said, "ALL-AROUND"comfortable boot. It took me awhile to find what I was looking for. Needless to say, good things come to those who wait. Finally I bought a pair of Cat'smodel #84552 Alaskans. They were exactly what I had been looking for. I'm on my fourth pair. I'll never wear another brand or kind. Yes: they are that GOOD!!!

I have worn these boots every day at work for the last 15 years. Each pair lasts me approximately 3 years. I'm hesitant to purchase any other boot because these work so well for me. They are very comfortable after you get used to the "walking machine" springy-cushion feel. To me, they feel lighter than similar boots. The waterproofing works very well. The quality of the leather seems very high. I've even used them for mountain climbing, something you normally wouldn't do with a steel-toe. They are ABSOLUTELY GREAT all-around!
Wears this shoe: Daily at work, and whenever else I need a good boot.

These boots are exactly what I was looking for, waterproof and with a steel toe. They are not as heavy as most steal toed boots and they are truly waterproof even if they get soaked. These are great quality boots I intend to buy again.
