I wanted a men's dark brown work boot to replace my beloved Herman Survivors that lasted over ten years. I wanted something that looked similar and my husband told me to try Carolina, as it is a reputable brand. The boots fit great and, at first, were 90% comfortable. Not bad for the first two weeks of breaking them in. Shortly thereafter, the fit was near perfect. I very much like the way they look, the fit is terrific, they lace up quickly and nicely and they are surprisingly warm! They also offer better traction that I am used to in a boot. I hike with them in the woods and take longs walks with our dog on pavement, and these boots are very comfortable. I take very good care of my boots, polishing (mink oil) at least twice a week, and one coat of Neat's Foot so far as well (I prefer a dark, dark brown boot.) My husband and I worked on our wood piles twice last week in 12" of snow, 18 degrees outside and I never even thought about my feet being cold, and my socks never got wet. I am an everyday boot-wearer all three seasons and, in the summer, about three times a week - so I definitely use them. So far, so good. I just hope they last at least a few years. If the soles are the first to go, I would definitely consider re-soling and not buying another pair of boots. Love 'em so far!
