The Rogue Runner II are the best all-around summer shorts I've owned. They are extremely lightweight, with no excess seams or fabric on the front of the legs, so they don't chafe when running or bicycling, and they flow lots of air. They dry very quickly when wet, and make perfectly reasonable swim trunks. They hit just above the knee, so they're long enough to not make you look like a refugee from an early 1980s issue of Runners World, but short enough not to get in your way. The cut is just about right: loose enough to allow free movement, but not so loose that they flap around or look like board shorts. The graphics are unobtrusive yet classy, putting them a cut above generic solid-colored athletic shorts. And finally, they have usable pockets; one on each side, plus a second, zippered pocket on the right in which you can trust your ID or other important things. No, you're not going to be using the pockets while running a 10K or riding your bicycle, but it's nice to be able to go about your daily business without wearing a fanny pack (ugh) or carrying a backpack. This feature elevates them from the realm of pure sportswear to the level of "everyday summer wear".I'm concerned about durability because the fabric is so lightweight, but the jury will be out on that one for at least another year.
