The Akron gets the following grade: D. I bought my first pair of Bostonians back in 2000 for going on interviews. I have remained loyal to the brand, having literally walked hundreds of miles in Bostonian shoes. The Akron is poorly made (and I made the mistake of buying them in Black and Cordovan). From the laces coming undone easily, to the creases on top, to the bowing on the sides, to the slowly deteriorating insole, to the weak-porous heal, not to mention the loss of color on the sides of the soles of the shoes. It appears to me that many of these ratings were offered the day of the purchase or soon thereafter. Both pairs were purchased in 2009 and already look markedly worse than pairs purchased in 2005. A co-worker of mine bought THE SAME Akron model in both black and cordovan and is experiencing the same issues.

My husband has been wearing these for years and still enjoys their comfort and classic look. They fit like a glove every time. He normally wears a 13-14 on the wider side and the 13M fit perfectly.
