Product Description (Blundstone 500)
This is the classic Blundstone: lean, clean and straightforward. Shaped like the human foot for ultimate comfort from the very first step.
How did Blundstone make them so light? Easy. They left off the bells and whistles. The best-selling boot is simplicity itself and goes with everything - jeans, skirts, pants and shorts.
Weatherproof leather upper is fused seamlessly into a polyurethane sole. The patented Shock Protection System reduces foot strike shock by 33%.
We've seen a few attempts at knock-offs but nothing steps up like the Original.
Fit:
This style tends to run small. For an accurate fit we recommend purchasing a 1/2 size larger than you typically purchase. For example, if you normally purchase a size 7, we recommend purchasing a size 7 1/2.

Disappointed with quality of new manufacturing

I am on my feet all day in every weather condition, and my old 500s couldn't be beaten for comfort and durability. My new pair of 500s just arrived, and I can't believe my eyes; the diminished quality in the new boots is immediately evident - lower quality leather, cheaper soles, unfinished seaming. There is a definite difference between the 'made in Australia' boots of yesterday and today's 'made in Thailand' boots, so beware. I'm on the fence about returning them, since they were far and above superior to other boots. I'll probably try to stick it out, but I can't imagine this pair is going to hold up for as long as the last one.

Great Boot!

I already had a black pair of these boots which I ride horses in. They are comfortable and great for that use. I went ahead and bought a brown pair to wear out and about just because they are that comfortable. They are great in the rain, mud, etc. Love these boots!

Nice boot

This is a nice boot. Looks good (stout brown is almost black in appearance) and is lightweight. I ordered the half size because I have a wider foot. The fit is comfortable for my wide feet. There are a few problems with this boot:1. The heel cup is not big enough to protect my heel from rubbing against the leather when it is "pinched" in the heel area. This is hard to explain in words. When walking with this boot, the leather will naturally wrinkle and pinch in areas that are not stretched out or at flex points (as with any other shoe). Since the heel cup is small, the leather flexes and pinches right above it, causing the leather to rub up against my heel. I've regularly had blisters wearing this shoe. Trying to find a heel cup that I can add into the shoe to prevent this.2. The leather is pretty cheap and thin. Time will tell how durable it is.3. The sole does not have much cushioning. My feet are little sore after wearing all day. These observations are based on my comparison to a pair of Redback boots (actually made in Australia instead of Thailand) that I have. The Redbacks have substantially thicker leather, much more comfortable and durable sole, large heel cup, and better construction. Blundstones are better looking since the Redbacks are more industrial.

"Blunny" 500 in Stout Brown
February 17, 2009

Shoe Size: Felt true to size
Shoe Width: Felt wider than marked
I followed the advice in the ad and ordered a half size larger than I normally wear and I'm glad I did. Length is perfect, but the width is just a tad loose. So, I wear thick trekking socks to make them feel snug. The stout brown color looks almost black. In fact I checked the box to make sure the hadn't sent me the wrong color. I'm hoping the shade will lighten a bit with wear. No break in was necessary. They felt great right from the start. I may order a pair in black too.

Exceptional boots

These boots took about 2 weeks to properly break in, but now that they have, it's hard to put any other shoes on (since these feel so good). I'd highly recommend them to anyone who is at all interested in boots.
