Had a pair that lasted all through med school and residency that then disappeared. Finally decided to get another pair and now find myself wondering why I waited so long. I work in L&D so these keep my feet refreshed even on those overnight shifts.

Use these shoes for work. My 2 prior pairs are still going strong after 5 years of daily use. They are waterproof, but it does tend to make your feet sweat as there is no ventilation. The clog style takes some getting used to in the beginning, but is great when taking them on and off. They are sturdy, the corkinserts are easy to replace too, extending the life of the shoe. And if you ever needed to autoclave them you can, just watch the temps otherwise I hear they melt if you set it higher than what the manufacturer recommends.

When I started working in a surgical operating room 14 years ago, I noticed that many people wore Super-Birkis because of their comfort, durability, protection from fluids, and ease of decontaminating. I bought my first pair two years after starting. This is my third pair, an exact replacement for my first two pairs that eventually wore out. Comfort is a necessity because most of the surgical team spends most of their time standing. Most people wearing Super-Birkis will tell you they last 5-7 years with full-time use. Their design and material prevent absorption of fluids, including blood, urine, etc, if you step in a puddle, or if it is dripping down on your toes from the surgical drapes. One of their best features is that if they do get contaminated, they are easily decontaminated by removing the corkinserts, spraying them with a disinfectant, scrubbing, rinsing and drying them with paper towels in less than 5 minutes. I know of no other dealer that beats Shoebuy's price and exchange policy.

My first pair of Super Birki's was bought in 1997. This most recent purchase of Super Birki's is a replacement pair even though the original pair is still looking great with wear only on the soles. Quality speaks for itself. This is a great shoe!
Wears this shoe: Just about every time I wear casual clothes.
