The Tokyo is a backstrap smooth leather clog with fully adjustable straps, classic suede-lined cork/latex footbed, and a shock absorbing EVA sole.
The upper is made with thick yet supple leathers without additional dyes to keep the leather breathable, durable and comfortable.
Featuring the original Birkenstock footbed that has pronounced arch support, a deep heel cup and a roomy toe box. Covered with a suede liner. The footbed molds and shapes to your foot.
The sole is made from EVA, a flexible, durable, lightweight, shock resisting soling material.

Birkenstocks have become more fashionable - with improved modern designs. I wear them for function - as my work requires me to be on my feet most of the day and I have always had difficulty finding the proper shoe for my feet - as they are flat and wide - This clog does the trick!! Also with the back strap I do not have to worry about slipping out of them while I am working!I highly recommend this clog! Though I purchase them for their function - I appreciate their fashion.

I find that Birkenstock has such arch support that I bought a second pair just to have. My original pair is still in great shape. I just changed the soles but want a second pair in case the style was changed. They are stiff at first then your foot forms its own contour in the cork, and the leather welcomes your foot. I love them!

As a nurse, I spend 8+ hours per shift on my feet, not to mention hours on my feet at home. Last winter I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis on both heels, as well as 2 mildly herniated lumbar discs. Despite medical attempts at pain-management (all of which failed), I have been desperate for a comfortable shoe to wear. Disability is not an option for this nurse!I had an old pair of Birk sandals which I hadn't worn all winter...when I put them on in late spring, my heels felt 75% better. With continued wearing of the sandals, my feet felt 100% better! The lightbulb went on in my head & I began to research other Birkenstock styles. So I found this style Birk, to wear at work. THANK YOU BIRKENSTOCK! I now go 8 hours without even so much as a twinge of discomfort. Now I live in Birks, either the sandals at home, or the Tokyo's at work. I literally put the Birk sandals on my feet before I step out of my bed in the morning....that is how much they help me. And I just bought my hubby a pair, so that I can convert him; cannot wait for the delivery of his Birks (the "Arizona" style for him). These Tokyo's were initially a bit wide on my feet, but the adjustable straps helped to solve that issue perfectly. These Birks are lightweight & the leather is extremely high-quality. I anticipate owning these for many years to come. Since I got the black color, I even wear them out & about in public, & at home doing chores where a 'covered toe' is required for safety.

I have a wide foot, HIGH instep, narrow heel and stand on concrete many hours a day. This shoe takes care of all my foot problems. Well made. This the 3rd pair I've bought in the last 15 years or so.
