This classic sandal features a Birko-Flor™ upper with an adjustable strap, a cork footbed with a double jute layer for comfort, a raised toe bar, footbed form, arch support, and heel cup for support and weight distribution, and a shock-absorbing EVA sole.

Fit: This style tends to run wide. For an accurate fit we recommend purchasing a 1/2 size smaller than you typically purchase. For example, if you normally purchase a size 7 1/2, we recommend purchasing a size 7.

Favorite sandals. I have deeply injured legs from serious skiing and mountain hiking accidents, and the Birkenstock Madrid sandal has proved an excellent shoe for support, posture, comfort, quality and simple global style. I have worn the style in several materials and colours for over a decade and adore them. I am deeply grateful to Birkenstock.

It is a comfortable sandal but the patent leather adds a great accent to summer outfits. Nice to be comfortable and stylish. I have purchased 2 other patent leather colors and now I have the black! Classic

Shoe Size: Felt true to size
At first I thought these would be two wide, but adjusted the buckle and they're great now.
Wears this shoe: Mostly summer, but were taking a trip to Hawaii in Jan. Perfect for there.

Shoe Width: Felt wider than marked
This is the second pair of this shoe I have had to order. I had enquired about the width of the first pair which were supposed to be "regular". In fact the shoes were very wide and I had to reorder the narrow. With shipping and duties to Canada I was out of pocket about $90. The sizing is not accurate as indicated in your shoe description which should really describe the "narrow" as "regular" and the "regular" as "wide". When first I described the sizing on my own Birkenstocks your sales assistant gave me the wrong information so I ordered the wrong width.
