This is the first time I ordered from shoebuy, but have MANY pairs of Birkenstocks. I always wear size 40, or size 9--10, but your sizing chart listed 8-8.5 for size 40, so I ordered a 41. I ended up sending the first pair back and reordered a 40. You may want to check your size chart compared to other Birkenstock dealers!
