  • Great, cofortable shoe August 17, 2012

This is the same, consistent shoe from Birkenstock. I end up buying a new pair every 2 years or so, with the old pair being demoted to beach use. I occasionally have them resoled to get a few more years of of them. I wear them daily in the summer and 1/2 the time in the winter. Very good for my feet and back. Nubuck has been comfortable combination of soft and durable. The suede version of the straps is a bit too soft.

  • Double Check for US vs Euro Sizing May 08, 2012

The shoe is great. I have plantar fascitis and these are suggested as the perfect shoe to wear. The problem I had is in the size conversion. Some sites show 39 as the 8 - 8.5 in women's while others show 40. I ordered the 40 which on this site says is an 8 - 8.5. When the shoe arrived the box clearly stated on the outside that 40 = a US Women's 9. I almost sent them back but since I am an 8.5 I opted to keep them.

I heard that these sandals were very comfortable. To my surprise they are. They take a little getting use to when walking. I have small wide feet. the fit was great. I really like not having anything between my toes (flip-flops).

I have been wearing the Birkenstock Arizona for about 17 years. This is my fourth pair but only because I lost the third pair in the Philippines. They last about 7-8 years of rough treatment and get more and more comfortable the older they get. A classic, comfortable sandal that lasts.

This is my third pair of Arizona's over a 12 year period. I use them as slippers at home, exclusively, to mitigate the symptoms from plantar fasciitis. Still a great product but the arch height seems to have been reduced. I tried a few different models, from different vendors, but always found the same thing, arch is lower.
