rock solid boot January 04, 2012 Reviewer: Carthage from Paris, Tennessee Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width These Asolo 520's are great. They are pretty stiff at first until you get a few miles on them, but after that they are just what a person looking for rugged footwear needs to hit the trail or bushwack up a mountainside.I stood in a mud puddle on the trail a few days after getting these. The water came almost to the top of the boot but none leaked in whatsoever. They fit snug-like a glove-but this was due to getting the fit right on the first order. This website recommends ordering a 1/2 size up. I wear an 11 and so I ordered an 11.5...PERFECT! I have had no hot spots at all with them. They are a warm boot in the 20 degree weather we have had with just one pair of wool socks on..Warm, not hot and sweaty. They are just right.I bought these for long distance backpacking with heavy loads. I have always used light hikers like the Five Ten Guide Tennie, which is a good all around shoe, but need I something a little more heavy duty and longer lasting.I will be taking them to China for a few weeks to hit the mountains soon and I look forward to using them. Very comfortable, a little slippery on first hike September 13, 2011 Reviewer: Bill from Boston, MA Shoe Size: Felt half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt narrower than marked I tried these Asolos (made in Romania) and they felt GREAT right out of the box. Astonishingly comfortable and supportive. I have a narrow foot and usually wear size 12 or 12.5 but 11.5 was perfect (European 46, which is what I wear in Ecco shoes). Wore them for the first time on a 12+ mile hike up Camel's Hump in VT. Only complaint is that traction wasn't as good as the Vasques, at least not yet. Hopefully this will improve as the tread "scuffs" up bit. Only 4 stars right now due to the traction issue, but may be subject to upgrade later. Wears this shoe: Hiking

Great Hiking/Backpacking boot July 20, 2010 Reviewer: Al from Tacoma, WA Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width I like everything about this boot. It's very comfortable for me. I have read that the shoe is good for people with feet that run slightly on the narrow side like mine, but I think the medium will fit most medium width feet. I like how the high tops snug around my ankle to provide that extra bit of support on uneven surfaces. The soles have the right amount of stiffness for walking on uneven surfaces like rocks and hills. Wears this shoe: I wear these boots for hiking and will use them for backpacking.
