I love the fit, especially since it's truly wide enough. The arch feels very comfortable. I wear these for general use and work, not hiking, as yet, and have no complaints regarding the fabulous design. I'm a good sized fellow and have a generally bad knee. These greatly have helped with my posture and, for me, have helped the way I walk. They have a design that, when walking fast, they set you in the right direction and keep you there. The soles are great. There is also great arch support that is just right. Standing for a great length of time usually bothers my back fairly quickly but these seem to minimize that effect. I've never had shoes that simply slip on without a shoe horn for ease of entry or additional effort. These do. The laces, having the pulley system, are also fantastic. The laces seem to even out (level out) the tension and pressure automatically, not to mention lacing up correctly and very quickly. I offer a heartfelt thanks for the superb design, quality components and great craftsmanship. The inserts really aren't too bad for my comfort, but will add the oven-warmed/shaped "sole" inserts to finish out the perfect fit. I can't wait to stick them on a rocky hill trail. Thanks, Shoebuy.com, for carrying this shoe and in the widths. I'm not big on reviewing products. This was certainly worth the effort and the Shoebuy.com experience, end-to-end, was spot-on.

Best boots on the market

Out of the box, they fit well. I hike long days with aggressive profiles and these boots never let me down. I have tried many boots and only these give me the necessary support and traction with no break-in period.

bought these boot in May 2009, great in the field dry and comfortable through pretty tough terrain. September came with a day of wet weather and saw first signs of wear, my feet were wet even with application of some mink oil. Soles are toast, but i do hike a lot, almost every day in the summer. I would recommend these for the casual hiker, but if you are an off the trail hiker i would go with something more durable. My next pair will be Meindl's from germany, saw these boots in the field, impressive.

Love the boots, but wore them out quickly

I owned these boots since July of 2007. Hands down the most comfortable, most waterproof, lightest feeling heavy-duty boot I've worn. My complaints are: You can't replace the sole; I have worn them out in less than 2 years, even with loving maintenance. I would guess I've hiked between 2-300 miles in mostly dry conditions; although both snow and rain hikes were done.
