A classic looking shoe and I like the different color as most of my shoes are brown and black.

I've standardized on Allen-Edmonds, for shoes to wear to work. They are all-day comfortable right out of the box, last forever, and always look sharp. The Ashton is better than I expected. Very comfortable, due to the cushioned insole and rubber sole. The style is progressive, yet different than other shoes out there. The fit is right on, but with a slightly larger toe box, to accomodate the insole. This improves the comfort without causing slippage in the heal.

Worth the money

Allen-Edmond shoes are expensive but worthwhile. In particular, the Ashton model is one of the few models that have a removable insert so that people with orthodics and put their orthodic in it. Other Allen-Edmond shoes don't often have this feature. I used to buy Rockport shoes but I am now switching to Allen-Edmonds. The shoes have much nicer leather and last longer. In addition, you can have them recrafted by them. (See their website.) The shoes last for years. While a $100 pair of shoes are cheaper, the Allen-Edmonds are worth the extra cost. I am tired of buying $100 shoes and then they don't break in well. Allen-Edmonds also have shoes of different widths, so those with odd sizes benefit. I own both the black and chili models. The chili is a very rich color and goes well with dress slacks and with jeans. The chili has a very nice rich color, it looks very luxurious and draws comments. If you go out on a date, the chili model is the kind of shoe that people notice. I like the chili color because it is not brown, and is more like burgundy. For me, it is a more versatile color than dark brown. The black leather is OK, but it looks more normal black (or Rockport black shoe).Ashtons are marketed as dress casual shoes, but they are pretty dressy. You can wear them with suits or dress slacks. I stand on my feet a lot, and they have good sole. Lastly, be aware that the Allen-Edmonds brand is rarely discounted. I think I read in Forbes or Fortune Magazine a few years ago that US presidents buy the shoe.

Beautiful shoe. Sole of shoe is great. However, should have returned for smaller size. Have a closet full of Rockports and Johnston Murphys that are 10.5 and fit well. The ashton 10.5 is larger and has extremley large heel width. Now wearing the thickest sock available.
