The shoes provide solid footing and good support. They feel substantial and well made, and they look good. My only issue is they feel a bit wider than marked. The "medium" width is a bit on the wide side, but not enough to keep me from wearing them.

Allen-Edmonds makes great shoes,and I've worn them for years. What I really like about this one is the removable footbed, which allows for customized orthotics to be easily used. It is very difficult for those of us who need to use an orthotic to find a stylish upscale shoe to wear to work in an office environment. This shoe is the answer to that problem.The shoes look great and are extremely supportive. The styling is transitional, so it could easily go from casual to a more dressy occasion. As with all AE shoes, the materials and construction are top-notch.
Wears this shoe: Casual dress days at work; occasionally with slacks and a sportcoat.

I felt that at the price of the shoe that the leather finish left something to be desired. In fact that aspect was quiet dissapointing to me.

I have the brown leather. This is one really well made shoe. Just stunningly comfortable the first time out. The look is hip and elegant. It laces up well and securely. It's supportive yet really comfortable and a pleasure to wear. The synthetic bottom and heel go very well with the brown, but I'd have to see them with the black to decide about that pairing. But the soles are springy and just great.
