I wear a narrow shoe and I ordered two pairs from two companies. The Allen Edmonds fit exactly as a narrow should fit, keeping the foot from sliding to the to toe of the shoe. The other pair, Johnston Murphy, same size, narrow in width, but did not catch and keep the toes from sliding into the end of the shoe. If felt narrow, but did not do the job.
Wears this shoe: All day at work or out for the evening.
